    THE ROLE

    As a Vehicle Configuration And Test System (VCATS) Programmes Engineer within Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME), Core Engineering you will be at the cutting edge of new technologies, feature, functions and the innovative new JLR vehicles, influencing the product engineering to guarantee the manufacturing VCATS quality.

    The role scope is from Vehicle Programme Early Phase through to 1st Prototype Build, handing over to the Plant Delivery Teams.

    You will have responsibility for integrating the necessary vehicle diagnostic processes into the JLR Trim & Final (T&F) Assembly line(s), ensuring the value is maximised through an optimal process & facility integration.

    In order to deliver you will need strong collaboration with Product Engineering teams, GME, the Manufacturing IT organisation, and of course the T&F Manufacturing teams.


    RESPONSBILITIES


    • Assess the programme content to identify new / changed content relevant to the VCATS processes & system.
    • In collaboration with the VCATS Forward Planning team, develop the solutions to integrate the new / changed engineering content into the T&F Manufacturing process to achieve the best value-chain result.
    • Align the Programme Targets with the Industrial Operations Programme Delivery (IOPD) Team.
    • Monitor & report VCATS Programme Targets.
    • Generate & manage programme risks as required.
    • Conduct design reviews with Product Engineering to gather necessary information to complete, collaboratively, the Manufacturing Diagnostic EOL Test Requirements specifications.
    • Create & maintain through the programme lifecycle, highlevel plans of the integration of the programme content into the VCATS process locations eg SoftWare DownLoad (SWDL).
    • Create and maintain the capital expenditure forecast for the necessary hardware, software and IT interface changes.
    • Pursue opportunities to deliver the Vehicle Programme in line with or better than the agreed Targets, while maintaining the journey to the VCATS Vision.
    • Gather and incorporate into the plans for the Programme, the Manufacturing Plant Lessons Learnt.
    • Incorporate appropriate innovation topics in order to move towards the VCATS Bill of Test (BoT) and the VCATS Vision.
    • Manage Suppliers as necessary.
    WHAT YOU'LL NEED


    • Engineering Degree or experience of applying engineering processes, tools and techniques.
    • Passion for Vehicle engineering.
    • Effective teamworking in cross functional teams.
    • Demonstrable ability to create effective action plans.
    • Ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical individuals.
    • Knowledge of and involvement in the product development phase.
    • Understanding of vehicle systems and/or diagnostic systems.
