Corporate Communications and Public Relations Coordinator:

Position Overview


Based in HMS Collingwood this permanent, full-time post, Corporate Communications and Public Relations Coordinator (CCPRC) sits within the Corporate Communications Department, part of the Information Management and Office Services Service Stream.

The CCPRC assists and supports the Public Relations Manager (PR Mgr) with the delivery of external and internal communications and coordination of visits to HMS Collingwood.

Some travel will be required within contracted areas and supporting public events as required.


Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in promoting site events, such as HMS Collingwood Open Day.
  • Produce, coordinate and distribute press releases.
  • Manage the social media output for all PR activities through official channels.
  • Assist in the coordination of all conferences, including tasks associated with conference facilities.
  • Assist with hosting official media visitors.
  • Support Visit/Event Liaison Officers.
  • Produce and distribute establishment Newsletters.
  • Update Public Relations Boards across the site.
  • Collate all media coverage for HMS Collingwood and share content with Senior RN personnel, on a weekly basis.
  • Engage with internal and external authorities to ensure the timely delivery of PR and events output.
  • Draft replies to routine correspondence and requests for information.
  • Deputise for the PR Mgr and other Corporate Communications staff as required.
  • Contribute to a safe working culture adhering to the Health and Safety procedures, processes and the law at all times.
  • Carry out any other tasks as determined by the MITIE Line Manager, including support/cover for other Interserve staff when required in contracted areas.

What we are looking for

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, orally and written.
  • Capable and experienced in use of MS Office software.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and adapt to short notice changes.
  • Demonstrative experience of providing similar services (highly desirable).
  • Innovative with the ability to offer creative and practical solutions, be forward thinking.
  • Customer facing and a proactive approach to everchanging demands.
  • Administration experience (desirable).
  • Good standard of education (GCSE Grade C or relevant qualification at NVQ Level 2/3).
  • Driving Licence.
  • Knowledge of the MOD/Royal Navy (desirable).

Additional Information
MOD security clearance and DBS Standards are required.

To meet national security vetting requirements, you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years to gain a Counter Terrorist Check, 5 years for Security Clearance.

Proof of right to work in the UK essential

The Contract operates a 37.5-hour working week between the hours of 0730 and 1700 Mon to Fri only. The current working hours allow for an early finish on a Friday.

Required to wear approved company work wear.
