    Job summary

    Sunniside Surgery is looking fora Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive Nursing/HCA team. Theideal candidate will be a registered nurse with Primary Care experience and upto date skills in a range of primary care services.

    The position is for three fixed days each week Monday to Wednesday , we would consider a job share for this post if suitable.

    The role is rewarding and willsuit someone who is enthusiastic, motivated and a good collaborator.

    Main duties of the job

    Essential to the job would betraining in childhood immunisations and cervical cytology as well as experienceof long-term condition management/Year of Care

    Sunniside Surgery is a friendly practice with a list size of approximately 3700 patients. The surgery has four Doctors who work alongside a small supportive nursing team.

    The surgery has a long-standing hardworking team with an excellent patient care reputation.

    We have been rated as good by CQC and are consistently high QOF achievers.

    Our clinical team consists of GPs, Nurses, and HCAs. We also have a highly active Primary Care Network and share access to Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Social Prescribing Link Workers, and Physiotherapists.

    ECG

    Blood taking

    Wound care

    Urine checking

    Suture and clip removal

    Cervical Cytology

    Health Screening

    General Health Advice

    Routine vaccinations

    Child vaccinations

    Routine injections

    Contraception

    Chaperoning and assistingpatients who are being examined by other clinicians where appropriate.

    Requesting pathology tests,swabsagreed clinicalprotocols with referral to other nurses and GPs as appropriate

    Maintaining and cleaningequipment used by nurses and GPs.

    Participate in maintainingNurse's rooms, stocking, and rotating items as required.

    Undertake housekeeping dutiesincluding general tidiness and cleanliness of nurse's and treatments rooms,maintaining a 'clear work surface' culture.

    Ordering stock where appropriate

    Ordering vaccinations whereappropriate

    Maintaining accurate andcontemporaneous records at all times

    Attend and participate in anymeetings when required.

    Any other delegated dutiesappropriate to the role

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • RGN experience of working in Primary Care
  • Relevant nursing/ health degree or diploma
  • Evidence of regular relevant CPD
  • Minimum 2-year post registration experience
  • Cytology and Women's Health
  • Childhood vaccinations
  • Desirable

  • Management and education of patients with chronic diseases/long term conditions
  • Sexual Health clinic experience
  • Awareness of the Year of Care approach to LTC management
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Primary Care with a minimum of two years work history in the field
