    Job Description

    The retoucher role is part of the ITG studio team, and focus will primarily be producing retouching to ITG standards.

    You will be part of the ITG studio team, supporting and reporting to the Retouching Team Manager contributing to the effective day to day output from the retouching team.

    As a retoucher you are responsible for producing Photoshop image manipulations and retouched imagery to the very highest standards in an efficient and timely manner.

    As and when required you will also provide guidance, advice and help to mentor colleagues helping to drive capability within the studio team.

    You will produce work with brand consistency, content accuracy and efficiency.

    When required you will also support the Retouching Team Manager in the evaluation of supplied photography, reviewing and estimating time needed on retouching projects.

    You will also be required to collaborate with your team and take responsibility for the quality control of the final output of retouching undertaken by the team during busy periods.

    You will also display a positive outlook whilst working closely with the studio, creative, production and account teams on a daily basis as well as being a true team player within the retouching team.

    The role involves working with product photography, cut-outs, colour correction, resizing, renaming as well as composition retouching that uses your creative flair to manipulate stock imagery and help find solutions to more challenging and complex retouching.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Using ITG work-flow systems produce retouching to the very highest standards in accordance with creative and production specifications at all times
    • Maintain a solid working relationship with the Retouching Team Manager, Production Managers and Account Managers to achieve the desired results
    • Advise the Production and Creative teams on best way to achieve the desired quality utilising your own retouching skills and pre-press knowledge
    • Prepare retouching for Epsom proofs for final sign off when required
    • Pre-qualify briefs and liaise with production and account teams when complex retouching is required and advise accordingly
    • Confirm estimated deadlines are realistic and achievable to the Retouching Production Manager
    • Review more challenging retouching undertaken with the Retouching Team Manager prior to uploading to the ITG work-flow system for client approval.
    • Make all requested changes and corrections promptly and correctly
    • Apply correct colour profiles for all retouching carried out prior to final image release
    • Help and advise on retouching to other teams and freelancers when required
    • Help replenish consumables and output colour proofs using GMG colour proofing equipment
    • Work closely with the Retouching Team Manager and the retouching team to help drive and develop retouching techniques and find new ways of working to achieve the best possible results whilst striving to improve efficiency at all times.
    Requirements

    Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience

    • Fully proficient in Photoshop
    • Excellent retouching knowledge and experience
    • Additional photography knowledge would be an advantage
    • Knowledge of other Adobe suite software, especially Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat
    • Have an exceptional eye for detail and meticulously high-quality standards
    • A strong understanding of colour correction
    • Ensure colour consistency across all images on project based work
    • Work under pressure to deadlines.
    • Recognise the commercial limitations of files supplied are that they are fit for purpose at all times
    • A keen eye for art and composition
    • Be able to develop new knowledge and skills pro actively
    • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and motivate others to help achieve completion of work within the required time frame
    • Continue to hone retouching skills and keep up to the latest techniques in Photoshop and Product Retouching
    • Be a Team Player. Maintain a solid working relationship with photographers, designers, creatives and Production and comfortably exchange ideas and opinions while keeping a level head
    • Name all images correctly, ensuring naming conventions are applied using the correct folder structures already in place
    • Crop images, maintain correct file size, format and specifications required in accordance with the brief or guidelines supplied promptly and correctly
    • Understanding of print requirements and limitations for print processes
    • Understanding of digital requirements and limitations for digital processes
    • Convey positivity and help develop a supportive working environment at all times
    • An understanding of branding and content would be a benefitConfident at interpreting and working with design guidelines
    • Use art working skills to help within the Studio team when required to do so
