    Surgical First Assistant/Senior Theatre Practitioner – Scrub/ SFA

    ( Able to assist in General, Laparoscopic, Hepatobiliary, Colorectal, Paediatrics, Ophthalmics, Endocrine - all specialities )

    Bupa Cromwell Hospital - SW5 0TU (5 mins walk from Earls Court underground or 7 mins walk from Gloucester Road underground.)

    £43,000 - £51,010 plus £5,000 SFA allowance per annum

    Shift Pattern: Monday to Saturday plus additional shift enhancements for weekend working - various shift patterns available

    Full time: 37.5 hours a week

    You'll help us make health happen by:

    To be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team, taking on the role of Surgical First Assistant/Senior Theatre practitioner role. You will provide continuous competent and dedicated assistance under the direct supervision of the operating surgeon throughout the procedure and be responsible for the management of the equipment, instrumentation, and standards within the designated specialty and the role.

    To act as a scrub nurse when SFA role if not required.

  • Assist in the positioning and preparation of a patient as directed by the surgical team and ensure that any specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to the laboratory.
  • Participate in departmental audit activities.
  • Control cross infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures and asepsis.
  • Ensure the accurate collection of data in relation to theatre activity.
  • To undertake such duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the grade and the needs of the service.

  • Registered Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner
