    We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Community Mental Health Nurse to join a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) that takes pride in what it does.

    We provide holistic and person-centred mental health services for people over 65 with functional and organic conditions and for people under 65 with cognitive impairment. The CMHT is a well-established multi-disciplinary team, consisting of Consultant Psychiatrists, Mental Health Practitioners (nurses and social workers) and Health Care Support Workers, Occupational Therapists and Psychologists.

    The teams provide face to face assessments and care for service users referred via the Central Access Point, In-patients, and Crisis Teams. The key skills required for these roles include the ability to demonstrate excellent on-going assessment, risk assessment and problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.

    The team covers a catchment area of Melton, Rutland and Market Harborough.

    Main duties of the job

    We are looking for an exceptional Band 6 who is able to demonstrate their clinical experience in managing different mental health conditions.

    We are looking for an individual who is committed and motivated to improving patient experience and care and contribute to team building and staff development. You will be expected to demonstrate leadership skills and ability to support your colleagues in the team.

    You would be expected to manage a caseload of both functional and organic patients. The post will involve supporting your colleagues and supervising student nurses.

  • Experience of working with inpatient setting or community mental health team.
  • Experience of working with cognitive impairment, Dementia or Alzheimers.

  • Previous working experience in Community Mental Health or in-patient setting.
  • Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse Level 1 Qualification Degree or Equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development within the last 12 months.
  • NMC Registration Demonstrates motivation and commitment to providing high quality patient centre nursing care and patient education.
  • Act as a clinical role model, mentor assessor and support for learners.
  • Driving licence is essential for this post.
  • Desirable

  • Post Registration Qualification Leadership or Management Qualification.
  • Any dementia specific training/post registration qualifications.
