About our client

Our client, a well-established private equity fund with a focus on the emerging markets space is currently looking to hire a funds Lawyer to join their London office.

The fund has over ten years' experience investing across the emerging markets space and pridesitself on its sustainable and impactful investment strategy.

As a business they are currently performing very well and are anticipating continued growth. They have very recently raised new fund and are looking into an additional strategy for the coming year
- making it a very exciting time to join.

What the job involves

As the Legal Counsel, you will lead on things legal across the fund on a daily basis with a particular focus on fund structuring and formation.

You report into and work very closely with an experienced COO, occasionally taking on more ad-hoc operational tasksacross the fund.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Lawyer with a funds background and a passion for the emerging markets space to take an exciting next step in their career.

There is a defined pathway lined up for the role with the realisticopportunity of becoming the General Counsel and growing the legal function within the short to medium term.


  • Manage all legal aspects of the firms funds developing, establishing and structuring
  • Work closely with the COO and Compliance in regards to polices and procedures that ensure the firms funds meet requirements
  • Liaise and work very closely with external law firms on funds and transactional legal matters
  • Lead on generic legal tasks relating to transactions, tax and regulatory issues
  • Support on coordinating the people strategy and functions of the firm
  • Promote and support on digitisation of the fund

Who we are looking for:


  • Qualified lawyer with experience working within a funds environment and / or legal practice funds team
  • Working knowledge and/or experience of working in the emerging markets investment space is a plus
  • Project management skills and operations experience
  • Strong academic background from a leading institution
  • Excellent attention to detail, highly literate and numerate
