We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen in our Norwich team, for a Scrub Practitioner to join the team and help us continue to deliver outstanding clinical care for our patients.


We are looking for someone who will thrive on working as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Clinic Assistants, Scrub technicians, Patient Administrators, Nurses, ODPs, Ophthalmic Technicians, Optometrists, Consultant Ophthalmologists and Managers.

  • A competitive salary of £30,000£40,000 FTE, dependant on experience.

What will the role involve?


Reporting to the Operations Manager, our Scrub Practitioners play a pivotal role in the delivery of high quality and high-volume cataract surgery.

In this role, you will be key in the efficient and safe running of our service.

You will support the preparation of patients for theatre, undertake important tasks during theatre and ensure that patients are well cared for after theatre in the recovery lounge.

Our Scrub Practitioners work closely with our Clinical Assistants, Healthcare Administrators and Consultants, and have previous experience in ophthalmology and working in a surgical theatre.


What skills & experience do I need for the role?

Education & Qualifications

  • Nursing degree, or equivalent qualification, essential.
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is essential.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Theatre training essential and recent ophthalmology theatre experience desirable.
  • 3+ years acute hospital experience expected.
  • Knowledge of clinical practice and demonstratable knowledge of development in Optometry required.
  • Understanding of phacoemulsification machine setup, biometry, lens bank & implants required.
  • Experience of and commitment to clinical audit.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office products and using computerised systems for data input, output and review.

  • Selfmotivated to provide an excellent level of communication and individual care, resulting in the delivery of consistently high standards of patient care.
  • Able to adapt to different surgeons.
  • Enjoys the routine and rhythm of a process driven environment.
