    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a junior clinical fellow post in paediatric emergency medicine in a dedicated paediatric Major trauma Centre. Opportunities to be involved with non clinical projects are highly recommended alongside clinical duties and will be supported throughout to enthusiastic, ambitious and motivated individuals.

    The post would offer the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a wide range of paediatric emergency presentations and would be relevant for those seeking a career in emergency medicine, GP or paediatrics in the future.

    The successful candidate would work clinically as part of the junior grade ST1-2 rota.

    A paediatric emergency medicine consultant is present on the shop floor every day between 8am and midnight with a consultant non-resident on call between midnight and 8am.

    There are 9 ST 1-2 trainees from a combination of paediatrics and GP training schemes. In addition there is an S/CT3+ rota which provides middle grade cover for 24hrs, 7 days a week. We have ENP's working in the department and a primary care stream that is staffed by GP's in theevening and weekends.

    Main duties of the job

    The following general duties will be applicable at all times.

  • Keep legible and detailed clinical records
  • Maintain continued professional development.
  • Attend regular educational and multidisciplinary sessions.
  • Complete an audit, quality improvement project or similar.
  • Supervision and teaching of students.
  • Co-operate with members of the personnel department when monitoring hours of work and other personnel issues.
  • Attend induction
  • Comply with all local policies including dress code, annual and study leave

    Qualifications and Training

    Essential

  • MBBS / MBChB or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Eligible to complete post
  • Evidence of good level of English language
  • BLS
  • Desirable

  • PLS
  • APLS / NLS / EPLS or equivalent
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Minimum 2 years postgraduate medical experience (equivalent to that obtained in a UK foundation training programme)
