Job overview

We are looking for a full time Acute Paediatrician to join our Acute Paediatric team of nine substantive consultants. Experience in paediatric ambulatory care, same day emergency care or paediatric emergency medicine is desirable. Part time working that fits in with the clinical needs of the department would be considered.

Main duties of the job

Acute and General Paediatricians are at the heart of safe and effective care for children and adolescents. By joining us, you will enhance our Acute Paediatrics team who are dedicated to promoting excellence in acute and ambulatory care for children in the Cambridge region. We aim to ensure that CUHFT is the leading centre for acute and general paediatric training across the eastern region and nationally.

The successful candidate will share our enthusiasm for continuous improvement, excellent care and job satisfaction. The rota is 1:10 and covers clinics, acute consultant of the week, weekends and 5-10pm M-F evening shift followed by on-call duties from home.

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Paediatrics or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

Leadership is a key requirement of doctors' professional work and this innovative programme is designed to support Consultants to hone the leadership and management skills they need to succeed at CUH.

Working for your organisation

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
