We're re-examining our vehicles and what a vehicle means in the emerging world of automation, connectedness, electrification and the shared economy. New ideas, new technology, and new approaches to mobility are our business. Join a team of next generation thinkers.

    WHAT TO EXPECT

The battery team is one of the fastest growing teams in the JLR business. This role is to respond to the increasing mix of BEV vehicles in our cycle plan which will ultimately lead to 100%. The industry is growing quickly at a time when the technology is changing rapidly which poses a number of challenges for JLR.

The technology is changing at a faster rate compared to our normal maturation timelines. So, to manage this, we must look forward and identify the right technologies that we need to invest in and determine how we grow as a team to accommodate and deliver this.

The role would be as a Cell Design Engineer based in the Battery Systems Advanced Concepts & Research Pillar, reporting to the Senior Engineer. The Cell Design Engineer will be contributing to cell design solutions to meet component functional targets.

    Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Help create the cell design part of the BEV battery technology roadmaps to support JLRs electrification transition.
  • Support consolidation of benchmark material from device to vehicle that maximises our understanding of our competitors and the current / latest technology landscape being deployed.
  • Work alongside our Engineering Operations team to ensure we have the right facilities in place to execute the technology roadmap.
  • WHAT YOU'll NEED

  • Experience in Simulation or experience of the multi-physics nature of cell and battery design and integration.
  • Previous experience within the competitor cell and battery manufacturing industry.
  • An ability to communicate a technical concept and strategy vision to the wider vehicle and PT electrification teams in order to drive toward a single optimised roadmap.
