Job Description:

The Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) in this role will function within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. They will work independently within established guidelines to assess, diagnose, treat, advise, and refer or discharge patients. Nursing care programs will be comprehensively planned, implemented, and evaluated from admission to discharge, with interventions aligned with evidence-based practice.

Continuous evaluation of nursing interventions will be conducted, with adjustments made as necessary based on patient needs and new information, including investigation results. The practitioner will possess the skills to recognize and respond effectively to emergency situations, obtaining informed consent and discussing implications with patients throughout the assessment process.

Short, medium, and long-term goals will be established collaboratively with patients, families, carers, and the healthcare team, with plans developed accordingly. The ENP will utilize advanced physical skills with precision, such as IV injections, surgical equipment assembly, infusion maintenance, suturing, plaster casting, and ECG recording.

When necessary, patients will be referred to other practitioners or specialists, and the ENP will liaise with the multidisciplinary team, participating in case discussions as needed. Support and encouragement will be provided to patients and carers to promote their health and well-being, while respecting their privacy and dignity.

Accurate and legible patient notes will be maintained in accordance with Trust and National professional policies and guidelines, ensuring the highest standards of care and documentation are consistently upheld.

To thrive in this locum prison nurse job, you'll need:

• NMC registration.
• Compliance including DBS.
• Must Have – Minor Injuries training - Level 6 or 7 standard.
• Emergency Nurse Practitioner experience and clearance desirable.
