    Aldine House is a modern, purpose built secure children's home for young people (male and female). We are licensed to provide care, education and support to ten children and young people aged between 10 and 18. As a specialist service, we provide a critical first-line child protection and public protection service. We work with young people who have been placed in secure accommodation either because they are deemed to be too vulnerable to be placed in an open residential placement, they have been sentenced by the courts or they have been placed with us on remand.

    We currently have a part-time vacancy for a friendly, outgoing and experienced Cook to join our team.

    Duties will include the preparation and serving of all meals, maintaining a clean kitchen environment as well as stock control and the ordering of kitchen provisions with assistance.

    Knowledge of health and safety issues and safe storage of foodstuffs is essential. An NVQ in catering or equivalent qualification is desirable and a food handling and hygiene certificate is essential. Candidates without a qualification will have to demonstrate that they have substantial cooking experience and the ability to undertake such a qualification.

    If successful, you will work according to a rota pattern that includes one weekend in four and some Bank Holidays. You will be paid at an enhanced rate for unsociable hours.

    You will work 74 hours over 4 weeks on a typical rota as below:

    Applicants must be over 23 years of age to work at Aldine House.

    If appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
