We are currently recruiting for Investigative Support Assistant's to work for Leicestershire Police at Beaumont Leys Police Station LE4 1DS
This is a temporary ongoing role working Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
To provide investigative support to the Safeguarding and Investigations departments of Delivering Justice Directorate.
Experience of working in a police investigative environment would be preferable

PLEASE NOTE DUE TO POLICE VETTING CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS.

Core Responsibilities/ Accountabilities


Operational:


  • To assist in investigations by undertaking a wide range of tasks under the direction of supervisor/police officer
  • To assist in the interviewing of suspects
  • To assist in the completion of criminal files of evidence by undertaking allocated tasks.
To aid the investigation by obtaining statements of evidence for criminal investigation

  • To assist in the examination, preservation and continuity of evidence and exhibits such as CCTV recovered during an investigation in accordance with procedure
  • Submit accurate reports into the force intelligence systems
  • Be prepared to use your own motor vehicle when necessary

Communication:

Be able to communicate effectively with witnesses to obtain information to assist an investigation, keeping them updated in accordance with victim code requirements

  • Attend court if required and give evidence in relation to aspects of any investigation that are within personal knowledge or in which the post holder has had any involvement during the investigation process
  • To discuss cases with supervisors and provide information to assist in disposal decisions
  • Liaise with a range of agencies in relation to the gathering of evidence. Undertake property enquiries in accordance with force policy

Administration:


  • To complete statements following correct procedures
  • To undertake the completion of a wide range of documentation relating to an investigation
  • Make records using force IT systems
  • Ensure material is identified and recorded in accordance with CPIA
  • Be prepared to work the department shift pattern

General:


  • Undertake such other duties commensurate with the post as may be required for the safe and effective performance of the job
  • This role description should develop along with the changing demands of policing reflected in force objectives and priorities
  • Be flexible in terms of working location and be prepared to work temporarily at other locations within the force area, undertaking a similar role
Essential Criteria


Knowledge/ Education (including qualifications):


  • To be educated to GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English Language or equivalent OR have recent work experience using English Language to that standard

Work Experience:


  • To have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • To be computer literate and able to use a methodical approach to work
  • Experience producing accurate reports or documents

Personal/Interpersonal Skills, Aptitudes:


  • Recent experience in a role requiring the use of investigation skills in dispute/conflict resolution, crime related matters or industrial relations issues, and/or have passed a BTEC diploma in Uniformed Public Services or equivalent
  • Experience of working within a highpressured environment with high workloads
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Special Skills:
