Description

We are looking for someone with an enthusiasm to be part of developing neonatal music therapy in the UK. You should demonstrate cultural sensitivity and be confident with working flexibly with the multicultural population. You will be working closely with parents and require an approachable manner and a flexible approach to music therapy. You should be confident in liasing with professionals and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

As this is a new role within music therapy we are looking for those with a combination of any of the follow experience: Childrens palliative care Bereavement Adult mental health Parent-infant bonding and attachment Families with children with complex care requirements Multidisciplinary team working KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE To provide weekly music therapy for infants requiring intensive/ specialist care.

To provide therapeutic support for parents on the Neonatal Unit. To support parents with interpreting, understanding and responding to their babys communication. To develop parents sense of parental identity.

To maintain professional and effective notes following each therapeutic session and communication.

To support families, where required, with transition to home or hospice following discharge from the Neonatal Unit, To communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

To attend regular supervision and training with NIHR Clinical Academic Fellow to reflect on the development of the service.

Adhere to standards of proficiency for registered body and standards of conduct, performance and ethics To be aware of and act in accordance with policies, procedures and legislation.

To work in a culturally sensitive manner. To undertake other relevant duties and tasks arising within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the post and its grading as requested by your line manager
