    This role has a starting salary of £31,262 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week. This is a 18-month fixed term / secondment opportunity. We are excited to be hiring a new Business and Digital Support Officer to join our fantastic Business Support team. The team is based at Surrey Fire and Rescue headquarters at Woodhatch Place in Reigate. You will be working as part of a very busy and dynamic team who are there to support Surrey Fire and Rescue. The role includes a large variety of tasks which are essential to supporting the wider service. Professionalism, attention to detail and time management are key within this role.You will have your set areas of responsibility but you will also be supporting with all daily administration tasks and well as some of the more unexpected enquiries from both our internal and external customers. A professional and strong work ethic is expected and the ability to work independently and within a variety of teams is essential.This role supports hybrid working with the expectation of 3 days a week spent in the office and 2 days a week at home.

  • About the Team The Business Support Team are a crucial part of the Surrey Fire and Rescue organisation. As the first point of contact for many, we have to be professional at all times and be able to accommodate all requests in a timely and efficient manner. We are there to support all and we always aim to help wherever we can.Our days vary and we have a large variety of tasks within our role and no two days are the same. We are based at the Fire Service Headquarters and work closely alongside other departments and with our Service Leadership. We are involved in many different projects, working groups, events and tasks so a variety of skills are always needed within the team.
    About the Role In this role you will act as first point of contact for customers, including front-line staff, to answer or refer enquiries, as well as providing accurate and timely responses to enquiries and other routine matters. You will undertake routine administration functions and assist with the organising of events and production of learning materials, letters and correspondence for HQ and fire station personnel. You will also provide project support across the service.You will collect and maintain data in appropriate databases and systems to be able to respond to requests for information by Fire and Rescue Managers within defined areas of activity but to also provide an information resource for SFRS to use. You will work collaboratively as part of a team to produce timely Freedom of Information responses, co-ordinate complaints and complements procedures, and be a single source of contact for KPI data requests. You will be required to provide customer service support to HQ reception; this will include room management, handling of non-emergency calls, and meeting and greeting visitors including VIPs and dignitaries. You will be a source of contact for all enquiries related to SFRS Standard Operation Procedures and the Policies and Guidelines approval and publication process. You will be responsible for creating and reviewing documents and publishing these documents in the relevant format and channel. You will also be required to be a source of contact for updating and maintenance of the SFRS SharePoint site, working alongside SFRS colleagues/departments to adhere to all communication and information regulations making sure that content is up to date and relevant and fit for purpose.You will work alongside all relevant project teams/specialists and attend all meetings to review/feedback and make any enhancements to the SharePoint system. This will include implementing/facilitating and supporting with any training packages which are relevant to their role to help with future proofing the service and support with the development of the SFRS team. Shortlisting Criteria To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
  • A very strong knowledge of all IT systems (such as Word/Excel/Office365)
  • Experienced with SharePoint systems, including editing and maintaining sites.
  • Experience in finance, such as invoicing and PO's in Unit4.
  • Strong minute/note taking abilities
  • Strong but calm ability to manage tasks and manage time.
