Description

This role focuses on ATMP, infrastructure and strategy so that Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is ready to respond to any future NHS England commissioning rounds as further ATMPs are approved for use.

The role would also support the implementation of ATMP treatments in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, whether as a service development or in clinical trials working within trust wide systems and processes that underpin care pathways.

Responsible for the facilitation and preparation to deliver the Advance Therapeutics Medical Products (ATMP) Service Specification across multiple clinical pathways, the ATMP Project Facilitator will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and the wider Trust in facilitating the on boarding and delivery of ATM products in clinical settings.

ATMPs cover a wide range of cellular products and a significant number of gene therapies are now on the brink of being introduced to routine clinical practice.

ATMPs are different from other medicines due to their biological nature and require additional governance measures such as development of policies and SOPs for handling, storage, transport and administration of the therapies, education of staff involved in delivery of treatment and external accreditation with relevant governing bodies.

The post-holder will work with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure:

  • National service specifications and relevant accreditation standards are achieved and maintained
  • Preparation, implementation and updating of policies and procedures and implementation of standard operating procedures relating to the delivery of ATMPs
  • Promote effective communication between other professionals across STH, external partners, including NHSE/I and the pharmaceutical companies.

You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves.

The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff.

This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.

This role will sit within the Haematology Department, part of the Communicable Diseases and Specialised Medicine directorate (CDSM) and in turn, one of the three directorates within the Specialised Cancer, Communicable Diseases and Specialised Medicine and Specialised Rehabilitation (SCMR) Care Group.

ATMP roll out will be inter-organisational with many STH clinical departments, Pharmacy, The University of Sheffield and NHSBT.

The post holder will need to work self-directed and unsupervised for the majority of the time, leading professionally, across inter professional boundaries, making autonomous decisions related to the project on a daily basis.

Responsibility for ATMPs sits with the Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products steering group which reports directly to the Trust Executive Group.

This role will take direction, agree milestones and report progress to the Steering Group.
