Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week
We are currently looking for a Passenger Transport Team Leader to join our team -The successful candidate will supervise the Passenger Transport Unit operational day-to-day activities of Home to school and Local Bus Transport and to support the Passenger Transport Manager on the Strategic Development of the Unit.
You will have experience in/of;
Significant experience Supervising a passenger related transport operation.
Substantial experience of supervising and leading teams, including supervising and developing staff
Extensive experience of monitoring and reviewing service standards
Experience of working successfully with a wide range of partners, including commercial bus and Taxi operators and outside suppliers
Considerable experience of analysing data to inform service planning and development.
Experience of working with service providers.
In depth experience of writing, negotiating contracts and appraising tenders.
Experience in local government procurement rules and procedures.
Ideally you will have;
In depth ability to undertake a range of advanced activities requiring specialist knowledge, skills and experience in Local Bus services and Home to School transport.
In depth understanding of the Commercial bus and subsidised local bus network. Understanding of community transport or other transport schemes and grants that are available to them.
In depth knowledge of Transport legislation and statutory guidance relating to transport matters, including the Transport Act 1968, Local Transport Act 2008 and the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006
In depth knowledge of procurement, purchasing and contracting practices in relation to Passenger Transport and Home to School contracts.
In depth knowledge of Passenger Transport operations in line with DVSA the Traffic Commissioner and the Department for Transport directives
In depth knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 in relation to transport provision
In depth knowledge in accessible transport provision and understanding of PSVAR regulations.
In depth knowledge of Safeguarding procedures.
Significant knowledge and skill in being able to deal with difficult situations and contentious issues.
