    WorkHours:Part Time up to 3 days per week

    We areseeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our Standardsand Guidance Team in the role of Patient Safety Manager. This is akey position that involves leading and shaping our patient safetystrategy while coordinating activities related to patient safetywithin ourorganisation.

    Requirements:

    1. StrategicLeadership:
      • Work with the Head ofProfessional Standards to shape and implement a comprehensivepatient safety strategy aligned with the organisations missionvision Royal Charter and 5 year strategicplan.
      • Provide strategic guidance to theorganisation and collaborate with other departments to integratepatient safetyinitiatives.
    2. StakeholderEngagement:
      • Establish maintainand support relationships with key pharmacy and government patientsafety groups networks and patient groups directly or through therelationships held by colleagues across the RPS.
      • Occasionally travel across GB will berequired.
    3. PolicyDevelopment:
      • Stay abreast ofindustry trends regulations and best practices in patientsafety.
      • Work with the GB policy teams onconsultations policies and position statements related to patientsafety.
    4. Coordinationof Activities:
      • Coordinate andoversee patient safety initiatives programs andevents.
      • Collaborate with internal stakeholdersto ensure the effective integration of patient safety into allrelevant activities this includes working with our NationalPharmacyBoards.
    5. Trainingand Education:
      • Working with theeducation team and engagement team to help design and delivereducation and training programs on patient safety for members andexternal stakeholders.
      • Foster a culture ofcontinuous learning and improvement in patient safetypractices.
    6. Patientsafety incidents andpharmacy:
      • Lead the development ofresponses to patient safety incidents on behalf of the RPSincluding from Coroner Prevention of Future Death reports andHealth and Safety Investigation Bureauinvestigations.
    7. Reportingand Analysis:
      • Establish a systemfor reporting and analysing our impact on patientsafety.
      • Prepare and present regular reports onpatient safety metrics to senior management National PharmacyBoards and relevantstakeholders.

    Knowledge& Skills for thisjob:

    • Degree in PharmacyHealthcare Management or a related field.
    • Proven experience in a patient safetyleadership role within the healthcare or pharmaceuticalindustry.
    • Strong knowledge of relevantregulations standards and best practices in patientsafety.
    • Strong analytical and problemsolvingskills with the ability to make datadrivendecisions.
    • Excellent communication andinterpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influencestakeholders at all levels.
    • Project managementexperience including the ability to plan implement and evaluatepatient safety initiatives.
    • Ability to presentinformation and arguments clearly and concisely both orally and inwriting and communicate effectively with people from a range ofbackgrounds.
    • Ability to organise prioritise andplan work to meet deadlines combined with the ability to displaybalanced initiative and forwardplanning.
    • Flexibility to adapt and reactappropriately to rapidly changingpriorities.
    • Selfmotivated and able to workwithout direction utilising innovative approaches whennecessary.
    • Excellent team working approachincluding integrating into a closeknit team and working withcolleagues at a distance.
    • Computer literacyincluding use of Microsoft Office and video meetingplatforms.
    • Membership of an appropriateprofessionalbody.

    Thenew Patient Safety Manager role is part of the ProfessionalGuidance Standards and Patient Safety team a combined team of 5people working for England Scotland and Wales. The team arepassionate about supporting our members be the best they can be. Wehave experience in a range of pharmacy sectors and workcollaboratively to ensure we learn from each other.

    TheDirectorate

    This new roleestablishes a new dedicated Patient Safety function within the RPSand alongside Professional Guidance and Standards colleagues arepart of a wider National Country Team structure working toimplement to policies and priorities of the RPS three CountryBoards. The Directorate is committed to visible professionalleadership including through leadership in Patient Safety.

    How weare currentlyworking

    RPSsupports and works in a hybrid way which means you will be able towork from home however there will be an expectation forcollaborative facetoface working on average and typically this maybe something between 48 working days per month at either our LondonEdinburgh orCardiffOffice.
