    As a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Directorate Leadership team, reporting directly to the Operational Nurse Director you will be a key contributor in the delivery of safe, effective and person centred, compassionate care to the people of Tayside. The successful applicant will have leadership responsibilities for both the Medicine and the Access and Assurance Care Divisions and additionally provide nurse director level leadership relating to NHS Tayside's annual delivery and winter plan.

    You will have a proven track record accompanied with extensive experience in a senior professional nurse leadership role. You will have successful experience of managing patient safety, service improvement and quality, integrating professional nursing perspectives with service strategy. High level clinical and leadership skills are a pre-requisite as are excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to think strategically and analytically, good influencing and negotiation skills alongside the ability to deliver change.

    We are looking for an individual who will enjoy working in a challenging environment. The post holder must be a Registered Nurse / Midwife with post registration experience gained in a variety of nursing environments to a level of seniority commensurate with this post. Integral to this will be providing professional leadership and advice to nurses, midwives and other colleagues at a variety of levels across the organisation.

    Additionally, professional knowledge acquired through education at Masters Level or can demonstrate portfolio of evidence commensurate with Masters Level study.

    You must be registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2, Registered Midwife of the UK NMC Register.

    Hours of work are: 37 predominantly Monday to Friday.

    NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
