In line with our mission to close the gap every day, the Port has been focusing its attention on addressing key tenets of good governance.

A recent overhaul of risk management processes at the Port has resulted in the creation of a new Enterprise Risk Management Framework which is being embedded throughout the business with a view to risk management being used as a tool to unlock key business opportunities.

The Port is also in the process of implementing a register of its legal and regulatory compliance obligations.


The Risk & Compliance Officer will play a pivotal role in capturing and analysing relevant data to support teams in achieving their core objectives.

The Risk & Compliance Officer will develop risk management and compliance throughout the business by:


  • Working across all business areas to ensure that awareness and engagement is high
  • Providing daytoday risk management support to risk owners to ensure risk registers are maintained up to date
  • Analysing departmental risk registers and reporting to the Executive and Audit Committee as appropriate
  • Undertaking regular reviews of the risk process and contributing to its continuous improvement and development in line with best practice and developing and managing an organisationwide compliance register to allow for improved monitoring and reporting of the Ports compliance with its legal and regulatory requirements.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Higher education to degree level or equivalent
  • Professional qualification either in risk management or in an associated discipline
  • Risk management / Compliance background
  • Up to date knowledge of risk management and compliance processes
  • Experience of formulating and monitoring risk management and compliance registers
  • Proficient use of MS Office 36
  • Good report writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
