    Workforce Development Officer - Social Care Workforce Development Team
    Job description
    18.5 hours per week

    Make a difference every day as a Workforce Development Officer in Bridgend County Borough Council.

    This post supports the development of staff working in BCBC and the independent sector's direct care services.

    You will work collaboratively with stakeholders and partners both internally and externally to ensure workforce development is delivering responsively to support the achievement of positive outcomes for individuals and carers who access care and support.

    Adult Social Care works to a strengths-based, outcomes focussed model of care approach in supporting people who receive services.


    You'll take a strategic approach to training, assessing the skills and knowledge within the organisation and identify what training is needed to grow and retain these skills.

    Given the range of services and subjects to be considered, you'll mostly arrange for a third-party trainer to deliver training, in-house or externally, but there will be scope to design and deliver training yourself.

    Your job is to equip staff with the knowledge, practical skills, and motivation to carry out their work responsibilities.

    You will evaluate training and development programmes and prepare reports for management in areas such as usage, engagement, and performance.

    You will need a flexible approach to work and an understanding of how diversity and inclusion influences the planning and delivery of training.


    You will join a friendly team of experienced, motivated, and proactive Workforce Development Officers working across the Directorate contributing to promoting a culture of continuing professional development.


    If you have experience of working with or in direct care services, planning, delivery, and monitoring of training in social care we would like to hear from you.

    You will also have excellent communication, interpersonal and customer care skills, a high level of self-organisation, able to manage and prioritise multi-site training needs.

    Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
