Description

The Lead Data Engineer role is a split providing support and ongoing maintenance to a large & complex legacy data processing environment, primarily MS-SQL based but also working as part of the team implementing a new cloud data integration and data analyticsenvironment to replace legacy on-premises systems.

As the Lead Data Engineer, the role involves both production support in response to data issues, pro-active improvement of legacy data processes, and new development of next gen cloud-based data environment.

Lead Data Engineer experience and skills required for the role:

You will be a highly capable data engineer with strong technical skills specifically in MS SQL Server, but also with experience across a range of database platforms.
Capable of reverse engineering and debugging complex legacy SQL scripts and also have the capability of creating brand new data processes.
Comfortable working in environment that is lacking modern processes and standards.
Track record of understanding and demonstrable experience of following data engineering best practices that will modernise and improve the legacy platform.
A capable communicator, able to work with the wider nondata technical team and directly with business users as needed.
Able to translate nontechnical requirements into solutions and be able to articulate technical restrictions and challenges in an informed and clear manner.
