    The opportunity

    This is a fantastic opportunity to join our growing and ambitious Construction team. The team have enjoyed recent growth and investment, making it an exciting time to join the team and be part of its success. This role is based in our Bath office; hybrid working is available and occasional travel to any of our other locations or off site as client demands require.

    This role is an exciting opportunity to develop your career within a highly regarded national firm, work with a high calibre client base from the outset, working closely with our nationally renowned Education team, which is ranked Tier 1 who receive outstanding recognition of their work from clients which is endorsed by individual rankings in Chambers and Legal 500.

    In addition to the Education work, there will also be opportunity to get involved in other non-contentious construction matters from our other sectors as well (the Charity and Business Sectors in particular).

    Key Responsibilities

    General duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Effectively manage an individual caseload, and delegate to and provide supervision to more junior members of the team as required.
    • Foster relationships with existing and new clients. Ensure that all clients receive an excellent service.
    • Work in a collegiate and collaborative way within an immediate Team and wider Firm environment.
    • To carry out your work for both colleagues and clients to the highest possible standard, having regard to the Firm's standards, procedures and Core Values.
    • Work with the Business Development & Marketing Team in order to develop the Firm's reputation and client base.

    Ongoing learning is something that will continue in your career at Stone King; we aim to be leaders in our chosen fields, often providing workshops and seminars not only for our people but also for external clients on key areas of law.

    Requirements

    Essential

    • A qualified Solicitor or Barrister working and with a good lever of experience in non-contentious and contentious construction matters.
    • Should have some experience supervising others.
    • The ideal candidate will be dual qualified in both law and construction, holding senior membership of a chartered professional institution, MRICS, MCIOB or similar.
    • The ideal candidate will have the potential to market the firm and should have a strong interest in business development. Typical business development opportunities would include, but are not limited to: attending seminars and networking events, presenting workshops to the firm's clients and being involved in pitches/tenders.
    • The candidate should be able to evidence diversity and experience in the construction and infrastructure sector.
    • A strong commitment to career development and further learning.
    • Someone who performs well under pressure and can manage a sometimes intensive workload.

    Desirable

    • Experience working within the Education, Charity and Public Sectors funding arena would be advantageous.
    • Specialist qualifications in Alternative Dispute Resolution, particularly arbitration and adjudication, and membership of the Charted Institute of Arbitrators would be advantageous.

    Reporting

    The post-holder will report to the Partner in the Construction team.
