The Placement Support Team are responsible for a wide range of activities relating to the quality & standards of placements and other work-based learning activities; this includes pre-placement approval, checks & documentation, oversight of the placement year, and operational management of specific schemes and activities.

The team also provide information, advice and guidance via the Jobs Hub and Ask a Question.


As a Placement Support Assistant, you'll work flexibly as part of an enthusiastic team dedicated to engaging and supporting students with placements.

This is a varied role where you will proactively contribute to a customer-focused, high quality placement service. You'll be a key contact point and provide first-line specialist information and advice to staff, students and placement providers.

You'll proactively manage administrative aspects of placement and work-based learning activities ensuring that data is recorded in a consistent, accurate and timely manner.

We are looking for someone with administrative experience, particularly experience of managing complex records. Experience of providing a professional and efficient customer service is also essential to the role.

  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate information carefully to students and placement providers, both verbally and in writing.
  • Use their understanding of the services provided to assist students and placement providers.
  • Prioritise their own workload effectively.
  • Build relationships and liaise with a variety of contacts to disseminate information and support the work of the team.
We'll provide all the training and support you'll need to help you contribute to student employability. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills and develop within the Careers and Employability Service.

You'll be on campus 3 days a week with one of those days based at the Jobs Hub.
