About AoD
Action on Disability (AoD), founded in 1979, is one of London's leading Disabled People's Organisations (DPOs).

AoD is a medium sized charity with a Board of Trustees, 24 staff, a strong pool of casual staff and volunteers, including many with lived experience of disability - all of whom are passionate about removing the barriers faced by Disabled people.


AoD provides four key services:
Youth, Employment, Welfare Benefits, and Independent Living.


AoD's Employment Service
The Action on Disability Employment Service is setting the agenda for disability employment across London with great results. We are at the forefront in setting up and delivering supported internships for Disabled young people. We provide an holistic servicefrom management and employer engagement to hands-on job coaching across all sites.

Our Employment Service welcomes external referrals and offers support for Disabled people via our in-work support service.


This postholder will be responsible to oversee three key areas:

  • Access to Work provision and support plans;
  • Recruiting and training sessional job coaches and support workers
  • Developing employment related projects.

This postholder is required to:

- liaise with the external and internal employment providers to provide and/or arrange support plans for disabled clients in order to secure external funding to hire a support worker or job coach (eg. Access to Work and Local Authority funding)
- liaise with the funders (eg. Access to Work and Local Authority) to get funding approval or awards for disabled clients
- organise and manage effective administration, funding and support systems in order to deliver an efficient service to disabled clients
- recruit and train support workers and job coaches
- develop and maintain a strong pool of support workers/job coaches to deliver and meet the expectation and needs of disabled clients
- promote Follow Up and In Work Support Service to reach out to potential disabled clients interested in buying in our service
- record and update spreadsheets to meet the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on a regular basis
- liaise with Finance to send out invoices and/or claim forms (eg. Access to Work) every month
- develop employer engagement and support programmes in order to achieve paid job outcomes as part of AoD's overall supported employment programme
- be part of AoD's employment lead team to contribute and achieve as part of the employment service strategy
