    Band 6 Specialist Perioperative Practitioner (Scrub)

    Are you passionate about Day Surgery? Do you have excellent scrub skills?

    Do you want to be part of an expanding team, providing the best care to Perioperative patients undergoing day surgery procedures?

    WGH is a Day Surgery Unit providing a range of day surgery procedures across a wide range of specialties.

    We are based in the market town of Otley and benefit from being part of Leeds Teaching Hospitals but away from the challenges of a busy, acute teaching hospital.


    Wharfedale Hospital provides enviable, good on-site parking in comparison to some of our larger sites and as a smaller hospital it is extremely welcoming and friendly.

    The Elective Hub is due to open in the Autumn.

    You will need to be a Registered Nurse or ODP with demonstrable theatre experience, particularly within the scrub role, clinical expert in scrub and leadership role.

    As an experienced practitioner the jobholder will co-ordinate activities within the peri-operative environment ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times, providing support to qualified and unqualified staff within the department.

    He/she will play a key role in the assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.


    The jobholder will act as a role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice, developing the peri-operative team and ensuring effective management of the department in the absence of the Team Leader.

    Specifically scrub practice.
    Experience of surgical specialty.

    Registered Nurse (Level 1) or Registered Operating Department Practitioner
    Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary), including clearance on blood borne viruses in compliance with Trust Policy
