Finance Director | Cheltenham - hybrid | Permanent | £75,000 - £100,000

The Opportunity

  • Work closely with the managing director (and chair) to ensure the effective strategic direction of the business and its continued commercial success.
  • Provide senior counsel and direction to the board.
  • Lead a team of finance professionals covering billing, accounts payable, financial control, payroll and HMRC compliance and financial planning & analysis.
  • Present financial reports and analysis to board members and other key stakeholders
  • Track key performance indicators.
  • Assess and evaluate key drivers of the business with the goal of helping the company improve its financial and operational performance
  • Implement policies, procedures, and controls to ensure regulatory compliance and sustainable business growth.
  • Provide leadership, decision making and advice on all finance and governance related matters for the business.
  • Build strong relationships with the management board and the wider business.

JOB SUMMARY

  • Directing financial planning and strategy
  • Analysing and reporting on financial performance
  • Overseeing audit and tax functions
  • Developing and implementing accounting policies
  • Overseeing forecasts and comprehensive budgets
  • Selecting and implementing operational accounting systems to enhance management information
  • Negotiating with supplier/clients on contract terms and conditions
  • Overseeing the daytoday accounting functions dealing with queries and issues raised by staff, clients and them team.
  • Hands on management of credit control and reducing the debtor days and billing cycle.
  • Line responsibility (with MD, Chair and CTO support) for HR, health and safety and IT

Personal Profile

Skills and experience:

  • Qualified to chartered accountant designation with one of the UK recognised accounting bodies.
  • Extensive experience as a finance director in an associated industry
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • A handson leader willing to roll up their sleeves and do whatever is necessary to ensure the company's success
