    SPECIALIST DOCTOR IN NEURO-REHABILITATION MEDICINE

    RAIGMORE HOSPITAL, INVERNESS

SALARY: £88,118 – £100,011 PER ANNUM PRO RATA

1 x full time (40 hour) permanent post

Applications are invited for this Specialist Doctor post in the Neuro-Rehabilitation Department in NHS Highland based within Inverness.

Surrounded by the beauty, history and lifestyle opportunities of the Highlands, but well connected by rail and to major hubs by air, it shouldn't be surprising that Inverness is Scotland's fastest growing city. We are inviting applications for a specialist doctor in Rehabilitation Medicine to expand and support our existing multidisciplinary team.

NHS Highland serves a population of around 350,000, dispersed through 40% of the land area of Scotland. Our remote and rural geography informs the structure of our service, using technological and collaborative solutions to deliver care in settings appropriate to patients' needs.

The Rehabilitation Medicine service is based at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness and serves a large, predominantly rural geographical area. Outpatient clinics are delivered as a mixture of in-person, virtual (NHS Near Me/ Attend Anywhere) and telephone appointments. Outpatient services are delivered in partnership with community rehabilitation multi-disciplinary teams, condition-specific specialist nurses including MS, MND, and Parkinson's, and other specialist services including wheelchair services and orthotics. Specialist clinics include a joint Spasticity, Posture and Movement (SPAM) clinic with specialist neuro-physiotherapist and Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), and there is scope to develop further specialist clinics depending on the post-holders interests.

The fourteen bedded neurological rehabilitation unit is based at Raigmore hospital, and is supported by a specialist multi-disciplinary team, including experienced nursing staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, dieticians and discharge support team. The service is consultant/specialist doctor led, with medical provision supported by junior medical staff. There will be shared cover for periods of leave.

The post-holder will have the opportunity to share in the development and future vision of the service along with other members of the team. There will be close links with the stroke unit, major trauma team and neurosciences department, including regular educational meetings and specialist meetings for specific patient groups such as multiple sclerosis and functional disorders.

Informal enquiries will be welcomed by Dr Juliet Reid, Consultant Rehabilitation Medicine, Tel , Email or Dr Ashish MacAden – Consultant Stroke and Rehabilitation Medicine. Tel Email
