This started with the recruitment of our new Director of Midwifery - Carla Jones-Charles. Carla has over 30 years experience as a Nurse, with 23 as a Midwife within the NHS. When appointed her motivations were clear; to provide the best care for families, in an environment where they feel safe and empowered

  • Where staff are kind to each other and are patient focused and where there is equity of access.
Our numbers are substantial-delivering approximately 8,700 births per annum to a diverse population, with a team of over 400 midwives, 34 Consultants

  • Carla is steadfast is ambition for midwifery at UHB and is fully supported by Chief Nurse-Margaret Garbett and our wider Senior Leadership team.
