    Job Opportunity:

    Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an Underwriting Technician in London, who will have responsibility for ensuring the Executive & Professional Underwriting teams are suitably enabled to transact business effectively, through accurate timely and complete recording of data, investigation of issues and relevant engagement with external & internal stakeholders. As a contributor to process and system-based improvements in support of the Underwriting team, the role will have significant involvement with the Operations department. The Underwriting Technician will be a key driver of task migration to our operational support area through identifying suitable tasks, training and feedback. As part of a growing business, cross-functional collaborative initiatives will form an ongoing part of the role.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Assist head of E&P with ad-hoc data management and oversight reporting
    • Build and maintain reporting suite and GPW forecasting for E&P
    • Assist E&P underwriters with account recording workflow management
    • Ensure consistent and accurate booking information from underwriters and technicians
    • Provide inputs to relevant actuarial and risk modelling tools
    • Being able to work in a fast-paced environment dealing with highly confidential information
    • Monitor and manage Underwriting file integrity
    • Review and provide support on operational area task completion
    • Support management in producing and monitoring portfolio and facility metrics
    • Participate in the reporting and external engagement for receivables
    • Represent the Operations function within Underwriting team
    • Observe and capture requirements for process improvements, software integration or task migration

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

    • Ideally 3-5 years commercial insurance experience required (preferably E&P)
    • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills must have exceptional attention to detail
    • In-depth understanding of underwriting practices throughout the policy life cycle
    • Must be proactive and able to work collaboratively within a team environment
    • Demonstrated ability to support and build workflow and process
    • Minimum of A-level experience, or equivalent experience
    • Excellent competency in MS Office applications
