    teach195. are working with a secondary school in Oldham seeking an experienced and reliable individual to join their team as a Caretaker. As a caretaker you will be instrumental in keeping the school facilities running smoothly, making sure they're safe and inviting for everyone- students, staff and visitors alike. This role is all about taking care of the school premises, from maintenance tasks to ensuring everything is in top condition.

    Job Title: Secondary School Caretaker

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical repairs to ensure that school buildings and facilities are in good working order.
    • Cleaning: Undertake cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitising surfaces to maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the school premises.
    • Security and Safety: Monitor security systems, lock and unlock doors, and conduct regular inspections to ensure the safety and security of the school buildings and grounds.
    • Groundskeeping: Maintain outdoor areas including playgrounds, sports fields, and landscaping to ensure they are safe, tidy, and well-presented.
    • Health and Safety Compliance: Implement health and safety procedures, conduct risk assessments, and report any hazards or maintenance issues promptly to relevant authorities.
    • Assistance with Events: Provide support for school events, such as setting up and dismantling equipment, arranging furniture, and ensuring facilities are prepared for activities.
    • Communication: Liaise with school staff, contractors, and external agencies to coordinate maintenance works, report issues, and ensure effective communication regarding facilities management.

    Requirements:

    • Prior experience in a similar caretaking or facilities management role is desirable.
    • Strong practical skills with the ability to undertake basic maintenance and repairs.
    • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
    • Flexibility to respond to emergencies and work outside regular hours if required.
