    Role:

    The role will include supporting senior trade mark attorneys and training to qualify as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney through the completion of relevant work experience and post-graduate courses. As well as technical competence, the ability to build and develop client relationships is essential. The role will be primarily based in our Glasgow office, with hybrid working facilitated as training progresses.

    Qualifications:

    • At least a 2:1 degree. A law degree can be advantageous but is not essential.

    Responsibilities:

    • Supporting the attorneys with day-to-day work and duties
    • Preparing domestic and international trade mark applications, and supporting on all aspects of prosecution, including responding to examination reports
    • Investigating and providing reports on legal and technical matters
    • Providing status reports and assisting with due diligence investigations
    • Conducing availability searches and assisting with advice on freedom to operate
    • Support in pursuing and defending opposition, invalidity and revocation actions
    • Assisting in advising on infringement and enforcement matters
    • Preparing reports for clients, including reviewing other intellectual property such as patents, designs and other intellectual assets
    • Attending client meetings and providing follow up information to clients
    • Processing and preparing correspondence to and from the UKIPO, EUIPO, WIPO, clients and foreign attorneys
    • Inputting new intellectual property records, checking accuracy and adding deadlines
    • Gaining knowledge of intellectual property legislation and of how to apply it correctly
    • Giving appropriate advice and developing client management skills
    • Learning the skills and knowledge required to act autonomously as a trade mark attorney

    The ideal candidate will be motivated, conscientious and diligent, and will take ownership and responsibility for their work. We will consider graduates who are new to the profession and trainees with some experience.

    It is envisaged that the hours of work for this role will be Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, although flexible working arrangements will be considered.
