    We are looking for an experienced software engineer/architect within the Test engineering division of the Digital Payload Hardware team based in Stevenage. You will have a high level of experience in architecting software solutions, supporting their development, design and integration onto both custom and standard off-the-shelf hardware platforms within a system/product test environment. The role is perfectly suited to a software designer who is motivated by working at the software/hardware interface in order to create automated test solutions and is happy to get "hands on".

    The Digital Payload Hardware group develops digital processors for use in telecommunication satellite systems. Reporting directly to the Digital Product Validation Team Lead you will be part of the team who develops and tests some of the highest performing digital communication payload equipment available anywhere in the world and be part of the rapidly expanding U.K. space sector. The availability of advanced Digital payloads is the driving force behind the digital telecommunication satellite industry and our team is a proven world leader in this field.

    HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM...

    • Architect software designs capable of meeting the needs of testing requirements for digital electronic systems
    • Lead the test software development tasks with a small team to engineer fully defined software modules capable of supporting test cases
    • Lead the test solution integration of all software and hardware modules required for the Digital Payload equipment control & testing needs
    • Ensure the software architecture supports all identified scenarios (covering procedures, test scripts, results analysis and test reporting)
    • Work within a dedicated test-system team to define the key deliverables required to generate a test solution for the Digital Payload equipment
    • Work with product design engineers and project managers to achieve test capabilities to budget/schedule constraints

    ABOUT YOU...

    • Software architecture experience (including use of tools such as Enterprise Architect)
    • Software development language skills to include Python, C/C++, ideally with some relevance within a product test and measurement environment
    • Ability to lead/direct a team of software engineers to achieve the project goals
    • Demonstrable experience of working at the hardware/software/system integration level
