    The role:

    Simulator Duty Team Leader

    In this role you will manage a team of operational engineers who maintain and support the simulator fleet with day to day
    coverage on a 24/7 shift basis, in compliance with EASA and CAA regulatory requirements.

    What you'll do:

    • Maintain an effective working relationship with the Flight Operations training, Global Learning Academy and technical management teams in order to ensure simulator maintenance updates are reviewed, costed and implemented as required.
      Responsible for monitoring defects, identifying obsolescence and ensuring the required fidelity of Flight Training as regulated by CS[1]FSTD(A) they will also manage the implementation of corrective actions and modifications to BA's fleet of full flight/fixed base simulators
      Leads technical fault investigation and correction
      Manage or assist procurement programmes/relocations and the technical aspects of new acquisitions for flight simulators, visual systems, SEP and ensure that all associated building facilities are provided
      Manage a team to ensure a safe working environment compliant with Health & Safety legislation where the team deliver, maintain
      and support flight training devices which contribute to delivery of the training task for flight training
      Manages a team to maintain and modify simulators to comply with serviceability and objective test requirements of the CAA and
      other regulators
      Adheres to the Quality System requirements detailed in the EASA document CS-FSTD(A)
      Provides technical training of engineers when required
      Identify repetitive defects and create improvement plans to improve reliability
      Delivers serviceable simulators with over 99.5% availability to the BAFT customer base with improving training hours per fault and timely defect clearance in accordance with the BAFT Quality System
      Acts as the fire warden or building controller for the simulator site for evacuations
      Provides customer service to the pilots and engineering teams who use the simulators
      Orders and chases spare parts to maintain simulators and SEP equipment

    What you'll bring to British Airways:

    • Ideally, 5 years' experience as a Simulator or Systems Engineer
      Understanding of the regulatory authority approval process for flight simulators
      Experience of maintaining and developing relationships with all areas of the flight simulator industry including regulators and suppliers
      Experience in managing a team in a regulatory, safety critical environment
      Incorporated Engineer level with a broad experience of disciplines employed in flight simulation
      A thorough understanding of all simulator systems and how they interact is essential.
      Ability to order A/C parts through EWS
      Provides ad-hoc training for BAFT external customers in the functional use and safe operation of simulators
      Operates simulators for commercial and non[1]commercial visits

    Your experience:

    • Engineering Degree, Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent experience
      Avionics Apprenticeship or equivalent
      Significant experience as a Simulator or Systems Engineer
      Simulator maintenance/software OEM training
      Thoroughly conversant with all technical aspects of flight simulators and associated systems
      Thorough understanding of BA and CAA/EASA flight simulator standards requirements
      Understanding of airline governance structures including familiarity with the regulatory requirements for flight crew and cabin crew training
