We are recruiting for an exciting
Trade Insight Manageropportunity within our UK Insight team.


The role of the Insight department is to provide knowledge support in decision making for the UK business to drive sustainable and profitable revenue and share growth aligned to the long term AEI vision (addressed in BetterFuture2030).


The Insight team reports to the Strategy, Planning & Insight Director for AEI (Asahi Europe & International) but it takes ownership for the UK business Insights agenda working in close collaboration with UK commercial functions (marketing, sales, PRGM & category)and is treated as a key team within the AUK marketing function.

We cover consumer, shopper, trade & market insights utilising a broad array sources & methodology.

  • Support & participation in straightforward, easier, faster and more effective business decision making & strategy formulation for the UK business.
  • Implementing best practice methodologies providing robust insights for delivery of effective business support to local teams.
  • Setup & management of insight projects and initiatives to efficiently deliver actionable insights for positive impact on business.
  • Inputs into and cooperation on the 3Y Planning cycle (process / ways of working / cooperation across departments).

Accountabilities & Deliverables

  • Manage the knowledge formulation in Trade & Channel (T&Ch) to deliver effective, robust and consistent decision making. Provide insightdriven knowledge in line with the business cycle and/or the process of formulation of commercial strategies.
  • Contribute to UK Category Strategy formulation and development via T&Ch understanding.
  • Provide support and constructive challenge to business in:
  • Conduct a brand portfolio review within the context of the desired category structure.
  • Proactively spot opportunities or threats, identify trends and communicate in an effective way to relevant stakeholders.
  • Estimate and model scenarios of market and category development as an input to strategy review (in cooperation with other relevant teams).
  • Support the Innovation agenda with relevant inputs from all the areas of T&Ch.
  • Manage AUK T&Ch inputs & insights into 3Y Mid Term Planning process.
  • Lead implementation of the T&Ch insight methodologies, processes and tools for effective knowledge and data management.

Implement local usage of research protocols, ways of working, actionable knowledge deriving processes - for the specific areas of T&Ch understanding.


  • Support excellence in business, brand, and channel IAP planning, ensuring Trade and Channel insight drives superior decision making around where to play and how to win.
  • Be the goto person within the business for market insights queries, ensuring that market knowledge is shared in a timely way, understood by the business and acted upon.
  • Contribute to the development of local innovations by leveraging trade and channel insights including effective collaboration with group insights for innovation agenda support.
  • Contribute to UK Corporate Affairs & Sustainability agenda in the development & support for sustainability agenda, stakeholder messaging and category image management.
  • Manage the continuous insights agency relationships, both day to day and strategically holding them to account to provide best in market servicing, deep thinking and solid data reporting.
  • Develop AUK insight usage across commercial teams through training, communication & championing the resources available to the team.
  • Identify new areas for analytics to enhance business thinking looking for new ways to do things.
  • Support the revenue management team with insight that can help drive profitable growth for the business.
  • Manage & develop approach to market forecasting to support future business planning.

Key competencies required

  • Insight project management (writing brief, preparation for tender, selecting the provider, project management, assurance of the delivery of outputs in the right quality and linking the results with other available data or insights.
  • Strong data handling and analytical skills, ability to setup key parameters for development of current, learning the new, and implement the improved methodological, analytical, or reporting approaches).
  • Insights creation using strong market and category understanding to create insights which are actionable, measurable through KPIs, stable, reproducible, robust and enduring while grounded in a consumer reality.
  • Resilient with courage and conviction, intellectually curious and solid team player.
  • Proactive and results driven with the ability to turn strategy into detailed operational plans.
  • Credible thought leader within the local business and also with the broader group insight community.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.
