LABORATORY PROJECTS SPECIALIST

We're now looking for someone to join the Technical Team in the Powders Group to contribute to the company's profitable growth journey.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The main purpose of the Laboratory Projects Specialist role is to manage in-house and external chemical analysis of powder samples, oversee all analytical and testing equipment on site and supervise the powders laboratory facilities, to drive productivity and quality improvements as well as on-time delivery performance.
Other important parts of the role include:
- To co-ordinate and manage timely collection of samples for external chemical analysis (ICP-OES, Leco, GDMS, XRF, Radiation, RoHS).
- To carry out analysis of finished products and import results into appropriate databases.
- To review and communicate incoming chemical analysis results to Sales & Operations Planning. Propose improvements in sampling regimes leading to increase in hit rates and reduction of rechecks.
- To review product properties against product specs and authorise product release based on satisfactory test results.
- To develop and manage Standard Working Procedures (SWPs) for current and future analytical equipment.
- To prepare written reports for customers related to commissioning and qualification of new analytical equipment and testing methods. To prepare and present updates on progress of laboratory projects.
- To manage and maintain internal Laboratory and Product Testing Areas in line with 5S principles.
- To research and identify analytical tools capable of improving cost effectiveness and expanding analytical capability of Powders Group and support preparation of investment cases.
- To develop and manage maintenance and calibration procedures for current and future analytical equipment.
- To carry out internal audits against numerous ISO standards including 9001, 14001, 4500, To support customer audits by presenting records related to maintenance and calibration of analytical equipment on site.
