    Job description:

For Natural England, there is a clear linkage between the terms Security and Information -our security posture needs to reflect our ambition to be an evidence and Information driven organisation.

To achieve this, we use huge amounts of information, in a wide range of formats and file types.

Additionally, Natural England has a significant physical estate up and down the country, these in turn harbour some physical security risks that can manifest themselves outside our offices as protests or on NNRs as thefts of equipment, tools, or supplies -keeping that information secure relies partly on our Information Systems but substantially on our people and their behaviours although on balance our security risks predominantly relate to the handling of information.

Given that we share huge amounts of information to support a variety of programmes, projects, and tasks we need to be very aware that the very sharing of this information, if handled incorrectly, stored inappropriately, misused, inadequately transmitted could adversely affect the privacy, welfare, safety or security of individuals and organisations we work with and for.

Significantly, the unauthorised disclosure of our information could lead to / or jeopardise the safety or security of teams undertaking delicate work or the services which they exist to deliver; could compromise our intellectual property or significantly cause commercial or economic harm to an individual or the organisation.

Each Lead Advisor in the Security and Information Team should play a part in being a key member of the team, you should want to share in taking the lead on Security, Data Protection, Records and Knowledge management and Access to information requests.

You should work collaboratively with all three Seniors, be able to support your colleagues and understand the roles enough to stand in, if they are away from the Office for a period of team or just need someone to help during a period of increased workload.

As the Lead Advisor - Security, Records, and Knowledge and information management (KIM), you will monitor internal compliance, inform, and advise on our access to information obligations, provide advice regarding all aspects of Security, Records, and KIM requests and act as a contact point for all information requests received from both internal and external customers / end users.

You will also support internal compliance on our SPOL, TRIM and Records systems as well as providing data to support the Security and information Dashboard.

Within this role you will also be working, at times, with the Data Protection Manager and the A2I Manager, you will champion the highest access to information Standards and drive forward compliance across Natural England.

As well as building expertise within the organisation and working on a range of exciting new programmes & projects, you will capture learning and embed improved ways of working to ensure that our legal position is robust, and we are upholding our core values.

Crucial to this role will be the development of an expert knowledge of all aspects of the Security and Information Team areas of responsibility as well as a proactive and pragmatic approach
.

Key Tasks / Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for registering, managing, and responding to all security and information requests received in the Security Mailbox, where necessary alerting the relevant Senior Advisor or Principle to the "event".

You will lead on the management and reporting on the progress of Natural England's security and information events for the provision of data for the Sy and Information Dashboard.

Providing advice and guidance to Managers and teams on the requirements of SPOL Asset Owners and site Owners, conducting SPOL health checks and reporting, their duties, and responsibilities and where necessary, provide support to help frame responses.

When performing your role, you will have due regard to the risks associated with release of information, and consider the nature, scope, context, and purposes of releasing information within Natural England.

Work with the wider Legal, Governance & External Affairs Directorate on Data Protection initiatives to ensure a robust governance programme is managed.
