    A exciting opportunity has arisen for a InfrastructureSupport Officer at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust which isone of the largest integrated care providers in England, serving a populationof around 600,000 people.     The Health Informatics department requires a permanent InfrastructureSupport Officer to work within its existing team of Server Specialistsproviding 3rd line support. The purpose of the role is to provide high quality ITinfrastructure support ensuring the maximum system uptime and resilience forbusiness and clinical systems.

    The role requires a high level of confidence and a soundknowledge of IT infrastructure in order to provide the delivery of excellencewithin the team.

    Main duties of the job

    This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the HealthInformatics team supporting the day to day activties, maintenance, monitoringand performance management of Trust infrastructure to ensure optimumperformance and availability.

    The post holder will assist with maintaining the operationalcapability of Trust IT infrastructure including physical and virtual serverenvironments together with providing BAU support for server applications interms of third level technician support and be willing to learn new andemerging technologies.

    Liaising with other teams within the department as requiredon technical issues, and with third party customer organisations.

    Participate in the ICT on-call cover rotas asnecessary.

    Job responsibilities

    Supportthe effective delivery of server and infrastructure services across the Trust.

    SupportTrust Server Specialists with incidents and requests.

    Ensurethe trust datacentre and server rooms are maintained to a high standard.

    Ensureserver infrastructure remains in compliance with trust security requirements.

    Conductdaily operational checks on production systems.

    Raisingand progressing support tickets to resolve issues.

    Maintainaccurate technical records.

    Ensureeffective server security & integrity.

    Maintenanceof technical procedures.

    Implementationof the Trusts planned preventative maintenance regime.

    Supportinstallation, commissioning and fault-finding of server infrastructure.

    Contributeto planning and support of BAU system upgrades on Microsoft Windows, Linux,

    VMWare, Citrix, storage appliance, andother clinical systems.

    Act astriage point of contact for the server team, check tickets escalated to theserver team

    (3rd line) for required detail and assign tothe Server Specialist resource as required.

    Supportand assist the Server Specialists by undertaking routine server maintenance and

    housekeepingtasks when required.

    Supportingthe departments ITIL processes.

    SupportICT users to investigate IT operational requirements functions that contributeto

    improvementsin the application of IT and the development of new or changed

    processes/procedures and ICT Infrastructure.

    Supportproblem reviews with the intention of identifying what went wrong, right andwhat can

    be done to improve the response in the future.Outcome of the review should also identify how

    to prevent the reoccurrence of the majorproblem.

    MonitorIT infrastructure management systems software and appropriate analysisequipment to

    collect routine network load statistics, modelperformance, and create reports as required.

    Completeroutine configuration/installation and reconfiguration of hardware andsoftware.

    Keepabreast of IT developments and technologies in order to effectively carry outthe duties of

    the post and make recommendations for bringingbenefits to our customers and improvingservice delivery.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • IT Qualification or equivalent experience within IT support environment, minimum 3yrs.
  • Good general level of education to GCSE or equivalent, particularly in English and Mathematics.
  • Desirable

  • ITIL Foundation knowledge or certificate
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Special Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of data protection and information security.
