Job summary
The Trust faced a number of challenges in the delivery of cancer access standards. The creation of a Cancer Services Care Group with a dedicated leadership team has enable the Trust to focus on ensuring it not only achieves these standards, but develops a strategy to enable it to deliver excellent services to the populations it serves. This approach has already led to significant improvement in achievement of the cancer standards over the past year. The care group continues to develop its strategies to ensure this progress continues into the future. The department provides a comprehensive clinical and laboratory service for patients across East Kent. Inpatients for haematology and haemophilia are centralised at Kent and Canterbury Hospital.
Main duties of the job
o Conduct clinical practice in accordance with the highest ethical and clinical governance standardso Provide support to other clinical specialitieso Contribute to education and training of undergraduates, post graduates and staff memberso Participate in multidisciplinary team and clinical governance meetingso Interpret and report laboratory investigations and provide advice to clinical Provide continuing responsibility for their patients, in partnership with colleagues.
The post is full time and based at the Kent and Canterbury and William Harvey hospitals. Remuneration is on the ST 3-9 scale with Band IA supplement of on-call duties (Non-resident on-call 1:5 with internal cover). Duties will include outpatient clinics, some laboratory work, and attendance at ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings. Attendance at clinics at the QEQM may also be occasionally required on a rotational basis with the Specialist Trainees with whom the successful candidate will work closely.
