    As part of service expansion, we're offering an opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Audiologist to join the Audiology Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

    The post will provide an excellent opportunity to develop your experience in complex and advanced Paediatric Audiology in a unique setting. You will be carrying out general Audiology and be exposed and trained to do complex assessment processes such as APD, BAHA, Microsuction, Vestibular and Electrophysiological testing (in line with service need). The department has close links to the Cochlear Implant team and there may be an opportunity for exposure.

    There may also be an opportunity to see private patients as part of the department rotation for Senior Audiologists (service requirement permitting). There will be many opportunities to learn with the unique patient population found here alongside excellent CPD opportunities (Internal & External).

    Main duties of the job

    DESIRABLE: CLINICAL SCIENTIST/STP

    Essential: NHS experience

    You will be expected to oversee the management or act as POC for a clinical area in conjunction with the Band 8's alongside line management responsibilities. Research and project management is desirable with several active studies running. You will need a minimum of a BSc in Audiology or equivalent. You must also be HCPC/RCCP registered and have post qualification paediatric experience. It is an exciting time to be joining the Audiology team at GOSH with the new Sight and Sound Centre having opened in Central London.

    As part of recruitment, consideration will be given to experience with potential recruitment to a paediatric post being possible - commensurate to band 6.

    • Registration with Health Professionals Council/ RCCP or equivalent

    Skills and abilities

    Essential criteria

    • Competent in carrying out a full range of audiological testing, including electrophysiology
    • Competent in independently assessing children of all ages
    • Able to communicate effectively with hearing impaired children of all ages independently
    • Competent at fitting a wide range of hearing aids
    • Competent in taking a lead in clinical appointments and creating management plans for children with hearing aids indepednently
    • Competent in impression taking on children of all ages
    • Able to assess children for cochlear implant candidacy and fit a range of NHS cochlear implants
    • Ability to demonstrate good working practice through auditing
    • Interest and aptitude for research and development of the clinical service
    • Computer skills – database use

    Desirable criteria

    • Able to communicate using sign language

    Knowledge & Experience

    Essential criteria

    • Knowledge of health service practices and understanding of clinical governance
    • Up to date knowledge of testing and current practices
    • At least 2yrs post qualification Paediatric Audiology experience
