    Clinical Fellow in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine with a Special Interest

    University Hospital Monklands (UHM) is looking for experienced clinical fellows to join its existing team of anaesthetists, and wider multi-disciplinary team.

    The Anaesthetics Department is part of the Surgical & Critical Care Directorate, which provides services within a 7 theatre main operating suite and a stand-alone 2 theatre day unit. There is a 10 bedded Level II/III ICU, normally admitting approximately 600 patients per year and 6 Level I surgical beds, admitting over 200 patients per year.

    The successful applicant will contribute to the provision of general anaesthesia within the main theatre and day surgery unit, as well as the delivery of critical care, including out of hours work. The balance between critical care and anaesthesia will depend on the successful candidates preferences and service need. There will be dedicated time to allow development of a special interest – either Simulation, quality improvement or clinical research.

    Individuals who have trained out with the UK process will be supported in this role where there will be a robust induction period that will help individuals integrate into the role. Our induction will extend to a two weeks softer landing period for successful candidates dependent on your experience.

    Accommodation may be available for those who reside out with NHS Lanarkshire area for an initial period of 3 months to allow successful candidates to relocate to the area.

    University Hospital Monklands is a District General Hospital allowing a varied practice and is also hosts all major ENT, head and neck, and urology cases for NHS Lanarkshire as well as general surgery, vascular access, OMFS and dental services.
