    Daily management of the ship yard functions and operational teams. To oversee and manage construction/outfitting/assembly of ship sections in a newbuild construction scenario through effective coordination of internal and external resources such that safety, quality and delivery of the work are maintained within the requirements of each project and the Company's overarching policies and procedures.

    Requiring a hands-on approach, the role will encompass all phases of project development, from pre-contract activities through to final handover.

    Provide visible leadership for all personnel in the team offering appropriate guidance and direction to meet the successful delivery of agreed targets and milestones .Drive improvements in productivity whilst growing and implementing improvements in the Safety and Quality culture within the business.

    • Responsible for all aspects of project performance, service delivery and safety management systems by providing effective planning, budget, time and quality controls.
    • Successful management and input on bids and tender development processes.
    • Provide visible, pro-active HS&E leadership, ensuring that all HS&E policies and processes are followed, including any necessary client-specific requirements in particular, ensure that stated requirements for incident reporting, task risk assessment and safe methods of work are followed.
    • Manage and regularly review the delivery organisation to ensure alignment to deliver programme schedules
    • Manage and control the contract, commercial aspects, quality, risks and issues and the documentation processes.
    • Management, control and delivery of assigned projects in accordance with Company systems.
    • Provide guidance, coaching and support to the operational management team by managing and supporting the teams effectiveness and taking corrective action in line with relevant processes.
    • Conduct regular project and contract reviews, regularly reporting the project status internally and externally under the terms of contracts concluding with a formal project close out.
    • Manage operational team budgets and resourcing
    • Engage with maintenance departments to minimize downtime across the yard and manage efficiencies.Also ensuring utilisation levels are managed and maximised across all areas of ship build
    • Engage with clients throughout project life cycle and build professional client relationships developing current and potential future working relationships.
    • Provide insight, advice and recommendation to the Production team
    • Lead , develop and motivate team to ensure they are aware of and take personal accountability to deliver programme milestones
    • Responsible for enabling and developing improved productivity across all areas of production
    • Sets direction on daily., weekly, quarterly and annual targets

    Qualifications

    • HND or above In management of people or suitable experience
    • Solid marine / ship construction background in an operational management capacity
    • Proficient in application and use of project management principles and techniques such as EVM, Risk Management etc.
    • Able to interpret all drawings General arrangements , isometrics and PNIDs
    • In-depth knowledge of shipbuilding processes, materials, and industry standards
    • Experience in management of successful/heavy fabricated ship construction
    • Management of teams and objective setting.
    • Proven capability in successfully leading multi-disciplined teams, including major sub-contractors
    • Understand cost control and earned value management
    • Focussed individual with excellent motivational skills
    • Effective delegation and performance management skills
    • Tenacity and persuasiveness
    • Ability to guide, mentor and develop a team. A strong awareness of employment legislation and best practice regarding, but not limited to processes, wellbeing, and equal opportunities.
