- Preparation and planting of seeds.
- Propagation of plants via cuttings.
- Potting and movement of plants.
- Irrigating of plants manually or via a fertigation system.
- Scouting for pests and disease and applying biological controls.
- Crop monitoring.
- Harvesting and agronomic assessment of plants.
- Processing of and milling of botanical raw material (BRM) and quality related samples.
- Preparation and labelling of harvested material to be placed in drying rooms.
- Stripping and recording of dried plant material in preparation for milling.
- Documenting movement of plants and processes samples in line with company practice and government regulations.
- Recording of phenotypic observations onto scoresheets or databases.
- As part of the role there is a requirement to work weekends on a rotational basis after an initial probationary period
- Execute additional tasks as requested to meet departmental project, development or change objectives.
- Assist in the training of new or less experienced colleagues
- Can identify clear mistakes as they occur and rectify at source.
- Be highly competent in all tasks and have a degree of specialism within the role.
- Demonstrable experience working within a glasshouse production or research facility
- A relevant horticultural qualification at Level 3 or above (. BTEC National Diploma). Relevant experience may be considered in-lieu of formal qualifications.
- Experience in a record based or quality environment
- Complete risk assessments and SOPs
- Demonstrate competency of horticultural practices.
- Demonstrates a can-do approach.
- Computer literate.
- A willingness to share ideas and information.
- Counterbalance forklift truck licence

Brief Description:
The job holder will be part of a horticultural team that supports both research and production activities related to the supply of cannabinoid-based medicines.
Provision of all aspects of plant husbandry including propagation, maintenance, harvest and processing of research material grown within the glasshouse facility. The candidate is expected to have a good understanding of their duties and ensure they are conducted within a good practice (GxP) environment and operate within the bounds of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).They will develop a degree of specialism within one or more aspects of the role.
