Your new role
National Highways are currently recruiting for an exciting Personal Assistant role.

This position will work to provide support to one or more members of the senior management team; acting as a focal point of contact and carrying out a range of administrative duties to support the delivery of business objectives.

This role will be based at our Birmingham office at Colmore Square, in line with our flexible working agreement.


What you'll be leading on

  • Act as first point of contact for the SMT member(s), manage electronic communications, mail and incoming calls; ensuring that these are prioritised, deadlines are considered, and appropriate action is taken as well as undertake ad hoc administrative duties as and when required, ensuring accurate, timely delivery and that relevant policies and procedures are followed.
  • Manage logistics for the SMT including management of diary, travel planning and expenses, to ensure effective utilisation of time and value for money.
  • Arrange and attend meetings and events ensuring that consideration is given to the most effective and efficient use of time and cost; produce accurate records and maintain and update action logs for all meetings.
  • Collate and compose information and prepare standard documents, correspondence, papers and presentations accurately and efficiently, to support the delivery of excellent service standards to internal and / or external customers.
  • Quality assure, enter and maintain information on systems and files to ensure that information is up to date, accurate, in the right place and easily accessible, handling department and Company sensitive information with discretion to ensure confidentiality ensuring security of papers and liaising with the team's SHARE Information Manager where appropriate.
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues across National Highways and externally, to develop cooperation and contribute to the continuous improvement of services.

To be successful

  • Experience of working in an administration or personal assistant role.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with others in an office environment or delivering an efficient customer service
  • Ability to use office software products to produce and maintain a range of documents and spreadsheets
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues across National Highways at all levels up to SMT levels to support the delivery of excellent service standards.
  • Build effective working relationships with contractors and suppliers from administrator up to MD levels to develop cooperation for the fulfilment of all assigned responsibilities and contribute to the continuous improvement of services.
