This post will take a lead role in progressing the development of a sustainable, flexible and integrated pharmacy workforce for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System (ICS) as a key member of the HIOW ICB People team.

The role will develop and implement key workforce projects identified in the HIOW Integrating Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation (IPMO) Plan.

The post holder will contribute to the HIOW workforce transformation agenda with the opportunity to develop and advance the pharmacy profession within Hampshire and Isle of Wight reflecting new ways of working across organisational boundaries, and to develop a workforce with the knowledge and skills to deliver high quality patient care in line with the ICB People priorities and transformation plans.

Lead on the development and implementation of workforce priority plans at system level, supporting the emerging IPMO system leadership function, including:
ICS-wide training needs analysis

Support system capacity for MPharm placements

Support system-level/collaborative/rotational employment models for newly qualified pharmacy professionals

Development and implementation of foundation pharmacist rotational posts as part of IETP reform

Support development of key senior/specialist posts liaising across the region

To represent either the Associate Director of Pharmacy internally and the HIOW Leadership team externally where requested. This may include taking the chair of meetings, the preparation/summary of papers and presenting updates on the programme.


To lead the implementation of the Pharmacy workforce agenda to support the achievement of the strategic objectives of the ICS.

Working with the HIOW Pharmacy Leadership team and ICS People team to set the strategic direction for the Pharmacy professionals and the system and contribute to the development of the system level specialty level business plan and objectives delivering on both the short
- and longer-term vision for the service.


To assist the HIOW Pharmacy Leadership team to provide organisational workforce intelligence to inform pharmacy workforce strategic planning and associated action plans at ICS regional level aligned to the HIOW People priorities and Transformation Plan.
