    12 Month secondment

    An exciting professional development opportunity has arisen within the screening team to assist in the day to day running, monitoring and development of the antenatal & newborn screening programmes. This is a marvellous opportunity to gain more insight into the screening process and develop your knowledge and experience within the 6 screening programmes.

    The opportunity would include experience with audit, teaching, developing standards and protocols, collection of KPI data, reporting of results, counselling and multi- disciplinary team working.

    There is an expectation to work clinically/operationally as required.

    Main duties of the job

    To contribute to the provision of the Antenatal and Newborn Screening service, ensuring the highest possible standards of care for women and their families. To work within the Screening Team and deputise for the Screening Midwives in their absence, including attending external meetings and teaching on Mandatory Training. To act as an excellent clinical role model and practice autonomously within the parameters of guidelines/policies and sphere of professional practice. There is an expectation to work clinically/operationally as required.

    The post holder will support the Specialist midwife to:

  • Manage screen positive results across the screening pathways.
  • Counsel women and their families in the event of a high risk or antenatal screen positive result.
  • Collect and collate matched cohort screening data for quarterly and annual data returns.
  • Write and present screening programme reports at local, regional and national level.

    Leadership and Improvement Training

    South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the leadership development programme, and the Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. This programme aims to:

  • Practitioner level in quality improvement, equipping you with the skills to champion, lead and complete quality improvement within your role
  • After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.

  • oCompletion of ELH modules for ANNB screening
  • Desirable

  • Teaching Certificate or equivalent
