Purpose:


Manchester United Foundation believes every young person should feel empowered to achieve their goals and uses the power of football and Manchester United to support young people to make positive choices in their live.


The MU Foundation operates the Clubs Regional Talent Club (RTC) which has the vision of creating the most successful talent development programme within girl's football by revolutionising the way the game is learnt and played.

This role sits in the Sports Science team and is responsible in developing the athletic capabilities of the girls.

Working Hours: 6 Hours a week (Monday and Wednesday 6pm to 9pm)


The Role:


  • A Key responsibility of the role is to develop and lead the girls RTC gym programme for the U13s, U14s and U16s age groups, ensuring that the girls become physically more dynamic and robust.
  • To lead the planning and delivery of the gym programme.
  • To support with physical testing at regular intervals throughout the season to monitor and assess each player.
  • To work efficiently with other support staff, including physiotherapist/medical services, to provide an integrated approach to performance enhancement.
  • To provide inservice training where necessary to educate coaching staff, players, and parents.
  • Ensuring everything is done safely, fairly, effectively, and efficiently.
  • Planning and delivering is to the best of standards.
  • Capture the success and impact of your work.
  • Responsibility to safeguard the welfare of children and adults at risk.

The Person:


  • UK Strength and Conditioning Association accreditation (or working towards)
  • Qualification at degree level in sports science or related area.
  • Minimum of three years practical experience of working with young people.
  • To want to make a positive difference to young people (specifically 12 to 16).
  • Hard working, enthusiastic and reliable.
  • People Skills (Selfassured, build rapport, empathise with others, emotionally intelligent, approachable.
  • To have an understanding of Safeguarding best practice.
  • Knowledge of implementing policies and procedures especially health and safety and risk assessments.
  • Motivation and understanding young people.
  • Previous experience developing and implementing a high performing strength and power training programme tailored at young people.
  • Knowledge of evaluating an S&C programme of the FA Girls' England Talent Pathway and Manchester United RTC.
  • Organisational and communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
Desirable

  • MSc in a sports science discipline
  • FA First Aid certificate and FA Learning Safeguarding Children certificate
  • Relevant other qualification/courses.
