SMART Education are looking for a committed and experienced Home Tutor with a real passion to support vulnerable, at risk and disengaged learners with their learning You will be offered the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with children and young people with a variety of learning needs through tutoring in a creative, flexible and engaging manner.

Home tuition involves yourself working in a home setting; this may be the family home or a residential setting for LAC.

You will be working 1:1 with students across a range of key stages however, you will be placed with a student in the key stage that you feel most confident and experienced in teaching.

You will be required to:

Create a calm and positive learning environment
Build a strong rapport with both the YP and their families
Tailor learning plans to meet individual learner needs and planning lesson plans and activities for the tutoring sessions to ensure the curriculum is covered sufficiently
Complete a home tuition report after sessions that outlines progress of the student
Supporting the YP's reengagement in education

Person Specification:

A QTS or equivalent and experience as a tutor is essential
Relevant experience working with young people, who are not in mainstream education because of behavioural or SEND
Relevant qualification in English and Maths (GCSE experience is desirable)
Subject Specialism or extensive tuition experience supporting with English, Maths and/or Science
Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of working with children/young people with additional learning needs (SEN/SEMH)
Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of working with disengaged young people or looked after children
An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to acquire one
Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of Safeguarding practices
