    An Exciting opportunity has arisen for a Elective admissions validation and theatre scheduler within Women's Health directorate.

    The purpose of the Elective Admissions Validation and Theatre Scheduler will be to provide an efficient and effective admission service to all patients undergoing elective in-patient and day surgery procedures, adhering to National and Trust waiting times and Admission Policies.

    To work with the 18 week validation team to ensure that all TCI entries on the waiting list for surgery have a validated clock start date.

    To liaise with the cancer MDT team to date patients and ensure cancer waiting time targets are met.

    To provide a high standard of administrative support to the Consultant and his/her team, interacting with other departments, General Practitioners and patients as required.

    The post holder will be expected to work independently within the appropriate policies and procedures for the service and will actively support and contribute to the requirements of the service and ensure compliance with performance targets and quality standards required at a local and national level.

    TBC Main duties of the job The post holder will report directly to the Operational Support Manager and will have day to day responsibility for Band 3 staff within gynaecology admissions across UHD, which will include conducting appraisals, ensuring compliance with mandatory training, developing and supporting staff in all aspects of the role and delegation of workload as appropriate.

    Working with the Elective Admissions Manager to ensure all services are fully supported across the working week, covering shortages within the office as required and deputising for the Manager in their absence.

    Dealing promptly with incoming correspondence, telephone calls and enquiries from patients, wards and medical staff in an efficient and effective manner.

    Detailed job description and main responsibilities To act as a focal point of communication for the Consultant and his/her team regarding any patient requiring procedure and their operating schedule, ensuring the Consultant's operating diary is accurately maintained.

    Dealing promptly with incoming correspondence, telephone calls and enquiries from patients, wards and medical staff, in a professional and courteous manner.

    The post holder with work closely with the Operational Support Manager, Elective Admissions Team, 18 week RTT Team, Secretaries, Nursing and Ward Staff, along with Theatre Staff, Anesthetists and Surgeons.

    Tact, persuasive skills and empathy will be required when speaking to patients who may be nervous or anxious about their forthcoming procedure or who are upset or angry because their procedure has had to be cancelled or postponed.

    There may be barriers to understanding when speaking with patients or their relatives because of cultural or language differences.
